- Find any sentence or sentences that grab you then post them.
- Make sure to add your post url to the page which is at Freda's Voice, so all of the participants can see!

Eon by Alison Goodman

I am currently reading for the Bout of Books 11.0 and I am loving it!

Book Beginnings
"No one knows how the first Dragoneyes made their dangerous bargain with the twelve energy dragons of good fortune."

The Friday 56
"I sat back. He was right. I was no longer a girl peasant or boy candidate. I was Lord Eon. In this new world of royalty and riches, I was a man." (pg. 256)

So, are you intrigued? You should be and pick this book up now!
Just kidding, but seriously it is so good.
What do y'all think?

Harry Potter Moment of the Week #11 | Free Week! Favorite Honeydukes Treat

This is a weekly meme hosted by Uncorked Thoughts. Check her out for more information about the meme.

So, for this free week I decided to go with:

Favorite Honeydukes Treat:

Fizzing Whizbees!

I've actually never tried any of the Harry Potter treats that are like merchandise, so I don't really know what they test like so I'm just going off from the description in the books.
So, I think this was first introduced in the third book, correct me if I'm wrong and what it is is a basically is a sherbet ball that will cause the person eating levitate off the ground for a few inches.
Isn't that cool or what?
What's your favorite Honeydukes treat from the book or maybe even from the merchandise?

Top Ten Tuesdays #10 | Books People Have Been Telling Me To Read

This weekly meme is hosted over at The Broke and the Bookish. Go check them out and don't forget to add your blog post's link so everyone can see your top ten, if you do decide to join!

10. Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children by Ransom Riggs Many people have been telling me to read this book, even my sister, but I'm just so hesitant because it looks so creepy.
9. Shadow and Bone by Leigh Bardugo Okay, I do want to read/start the series but I just haven't got the time and willpower to start another series when I have so much ongoing ones to finish.
8. Shatter Me by Tahara Mafi Same with the Shadow and Bone but I think this one I'm more interested in.
7. Anna and the French Kiss by Stephenie Perkins Everyone loves this book. EVERYONE. And, I'm not usually one for romance, cutesy books but I'm so intrigued on why everyone adores this book.
6. A Game of Thrones by George R.R. Martin So, my parents told me to read this book, mainly because they don't want me watching the show, but also because I am curious because everyone is like obsessed with the TV show.
5. Rest of the Heroes of Olympus Books by Rick Riordan Yep, shameful I know. I've only read the first book and the last book is coming in October.....
4. Rest of the Vampire Academy Books by Richelle Mead  Yeah.... I've only read the first book in this series and the "sequel" series is ending, I believe, I'm not too sure.
3. Insurgent and Allegiant by Veronica Roth I've been trying to put off continuing this series because I just can't. If it's like another Hunger Games type emotionally, then I can't. I just can't take that.
2. Cress by Marissa Meyer I guess I see the hype around this series, it's super interesting especially the first book. I'm sure I want to pick this up sometime next year.
1. Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Maas I think this one is self-explanatory.

So, what do you think? Tell me in the comments below!

Bout of Books 11.0 | Reading and Goals Update & Challenges

The Bout of Books read-a-thon is organized by Amanda @ On a Book Bender and Kelly @ Reading the Paranormal. It is a week long read-a-thon that begins 12:01am Monday, August 18th and runs through Sunday, August 24th in whatever time zone you are in. Bout of Books is low-pressure, and the only reading competition is between you and your usual number of books read in a week. There are challenges, giveaways, and a grand prize, but all of these are completely optional. For all Bout of Books 11 information and updates, be sure to visit the Bout of Books blog.
- From the Bout of Books team

1. Start and finish a series.
2. Participate in at least 3 challenges. Here is the schedule throughout the read-a-thon.
3. Participate in a Twitter chat.
4. Daily updates here on my blog.
5. Reduce my TBR pile, meaning read at least 3 books. So, I need to read, read, read.

Time I am Devoting to Reading: 3 hours a day at least. I do have school during the weekdays of the read-a-thon, and I have a lot of hard courses. So, I definitely need to up my game.

Total Number of Pages Read: 84

I thought I was going to be able to finish Beyond the Grave before the start of the read-a-thon, but obviously I didn't. I also started Eon and I am so curious and so interested because I've never read a Chinese or a dragon book before. This book is for one of the challenges I set for myself, which is to start and finish the series. I also participated in a challenge: Book Scavenger Hunt. How did y'all do for the first day?

Yay for 100 pages! But, this book. THIS BOOK. I'm only like 130 pages in and I'm already angry. But, that's alright. I hope I can finish this book soon though. Also, I didn't participate in any challenges yesterday because school was too busy. So, how did y'all do yesterday? Hope everyone has a good third day!

So happy that I'm making progress, what with school and all but yes! Halfway through Eon and I can't with this book right now. Why haven't I picked this up sooner? Has anyone read this book before? And, how are y'all doing? Tell me in the comments below and have good fourth day!

Total Number of Pages Read: 494

Almost done with my second book! Yay! Will be starting Eona, maybe tomorrow though to get all my homework done for the weekend. I am really, really, really, enjoying this book and I think I might do a duo logy review after. We'll see. I also participated in a challenge, just scroll down and you'll see! How did y'all do during the fourth day?

Day 5

Books Read:
- Beyond the Grave by Judy Blundell
- Eon by Alison Goodman

Number of Pages Read Since Last Update: 86

Total Number of Pages Read: 580

Finished Eon and it's sooooo good! I had to do some homework though so I could just read during the weekend. How did y'all do?

Day 6

Currently Reading: Eona by Alison Goodman

Books Read:
- Beyond the Grave by Judy Blundell
- Eon by Alison Goodman

Number of Pages Read Since Last Update: 50

Total Number of Pages Read: 630

I wasn't able to do much reading because I felt drowsy all day, and took several naps throughout the day. I think the exhaustion from the past 3 weeks of school finally caught up with me. So, I won't be finishing Eona today that's for sure, but I will try to do a lot of reading! How did y'all do?

Day 1: Book Scavenger Hunt:

1. A Book that begins with “B”  (for Bout of Books!)
2. A book that has been made into a movie/tv show
3. A series you love
4. An anthology of poems or short stories
5. A book on your TBR shelf, or your full TBR shelves

1. Blood Promise by Richelle Mead I've actually only read the first book in the Vampire Academy series and this is the fourth one, so yeah this book is still in my TBR pile. I would really, really like to get into this series, though.
2. Pretty Little Liars by Sara Shepard I've read until I think the sixth book in this series, but I just got so confused so I just watched the series and I am obsessed.
3. Harry Potter Series by J.K. Rowling This series will always have a place in my heart no matter how old and forget I will probably get in the future.
4. Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Demigod Files This counts, right? It had like three short stories in between the Battle of the Labyrinth and the Last Olympian.
5. North of Beautiful by Justina Chen Headley This book has been in my TBR pile for 3 years now and this is actually in my TBR pile for this month. I hope that I get into this after the Bout of Books!

So, how are y'all doing for Day One of the Bout of Books?

Day 4: Like This, Try This

So, the main objective of this challenge is to recommend a book based from another book, movie, etc.
I've never actually done this before, so let's go!
*Also, I'm only doing this for fun and not for the prize or anything*

If You Liked:

Before I Fall by Lauren Oliver

Then You Should Try:

Bruiser by Neal Shusterman

Different stories, different perspectives, but in some way related. Just try it out!
Have a good fourth day!

Day 6: Spell It Out

The Rules
  1. Use the first letter in any book you’ve read or want to read to spell out a word. You can choose first name, initials, your birthday month, or your zodiac sign.
  2. Take a photo, make a graphic or even a list and share your word on your blog, Facebook, Twitter or Goodreads.
  3. Submit a link to your post in the linky below! You’ll get an extra FIVE entries in the Rafflecopter international giveaway for an eBook of your choice (Amazon or B&N, up to $10 USD) for participating in this challenge. You MUST be participating in Bout of Books 11.0 to be eligible to win the giveaway, but you can always post your answer in the comments just for fun if you aren’t a participant.
  4. If you tweet about this challenge, don’t forget to mention me, @kimberlyreads, and use the #boutofbooks hashtag.

I didn't count "the" because then I would really have much books. So, I spelled out September, my birthday month!

The Son of Neptune
The Emperor's Code
The Power of Habit
This Is What Happy Looks Like
The Ender's Game
Beatrice and Virgil
The Rule of Three

Day 7: 5 Book Challenge | Post-Apocalyptic Edition

It is 11:00 PM on a Sunday night. You are laying in bed thinking about all of the things you must do the next day. Tasks of the coming days consume your thoughts and while your mind is somewhere else you are caught off guard by a flash in the sky that is followed by a large wailing screech that pierces the air and shatters your bedroom window. Slowly you move to the window and what you see catches your breathe and causes you to stumble back a few steps. The aliens (at least you think they are aliens) have began to enter the city and destroy everything that is in their path. Through the window your view is consumed with destruction, screaming people and large flames that are dancing across the city at a fast pace. You notice that the creatures are heading in your direction and you realize you probably have about fifteen minutes before they reach your home. That means you have only about ten minutes to gather your belongings and escape before you are caught in the attack from the aliens invading the city.
Given the short amount of time you are only able to take 5 books with you. What books would you pick to take with you as you escape and prepare for the end of the world. Would you choose books that would help you survive in the post-apocalyptic world, books for pleasure that would make you happy and take you to a fantasy reality or books that you can’t live without?
My List:
  1. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows by J.K. Rowling Because I can't bring everything, why not just get the last one to get the full experience.
  2. Son of Neptune by Rick Riordan I need my Percy, need it! And, I haven't read this one before and I liked Lost Here so, even though the world is coming down I still have to remember my ever-growing TBR.
  3. Obsidian by Jennifer L. Armentrout I don't even have to worry about this one, because I have this on my phone, in the Kindle App, and I am for sure bringing my phone no matter what. And, charger of course!
  4. Me & Earl & the Dying Girl by Jesse Andrews I need contemporary, something to connect with the norms, what with the aliens and all.
  5. Anna & the French Kiss by Stephenie Perkins I've never read this one yet, I know *gasp* but I heard it's really light-hearted and cute. So, of course I need this because I probably won't have anyone with me, except for my family.
