Well, today was better than yesterday, in terms of how many pages I read, but I did finish one book yesterday and that, in some weird way, hold more like a sense of accomplishment, I don't even know I'm weird. But, I hope tomorrow will be better, seeing that it is a weekend and not much chores or errands to do. So, see y'all tomorrow! Make sure to follow me on Twitter @enzieequimson and on Tumblr at weskipthistown, because I'm going to be more active there now because school's out.

Friday Memes | The Friday 56 and Book Beginnings #1

These are my first ever The Friday 56 and Book Beginnings memes! The Friday 56 is hosted over at Freda's Voice! While the Book Beginning is hosted over at Rose City Reader. So, go check both of them out if you need more information.
The rules of The Friday 56 are very simple:
- Grab a book, any book.
- Turn to page 56 or 56% if you are reading from an e-reader.
- Find any sentence or sentences that grab you then post them.
- Make sure to add your post url to the page which is at Freda's Voice, so all of the participants can see!
Book Beginnings:
Share the first sentence, or so, of the book you are currently reading. Share your thoughts and don't forget to also add your post url at Rose City Reader's page!

The Lost Hero by Rick Riordan

Book Beginning:
"Even before he got electrocuted, Jason was having a rotten day."

Friday 56:
"Her standard response. Not a lie, just not the whole truth."

Thoughts:
When I first read this book, I didn't really know anything about the plot. So, on the first sentence I was disappointed because it wasn't Percy. *cries* But, it was still pretty interesting that new characters introduced along with some others who were already in the Percy Jackson and the Olympians Series.

Tweet me your thoughts about this book @enzieequimson. I would love to hear what you guys think!
See you next week for more Friday Memes!

Today was not so much of a successful today. Laziness and drowsiness got the best of me and I was only able to finish the Maze of Bones. I might do a review of that book separately or a collective one when I finish the whole 39 Clues series, which is 10 books long but all of them are pretty thin. So, stay tuned for that! Follow me on Twitter for more updates @enzieequimson. See y'all for Day #5!

I was sort of busy today, mostly because of my summer assignment and this blog, but blah blah no excuses. Nonetheless, still pretty good reading day, because I did read some books outside the #AYearAThon. I hope tomorrow I get to start the Heroes of Olympus Series after the Maze of Bones. So, see you tomorrow for Day #4 of the #AYearAThon!

June #BookADay on Twitter | Join us and find books for your TBRs and bookshelves!

This book challenge can be done all through out the summer, and is originally been done like that. If you want more information about that click here! And follow Donalyn Miller, the facilitator of this challenge, that has already been going on for SIX years! Pretty sick, if I say so myself. So if you're needing some kind of motivation or just a support system for your summer reading, definitely check them out!

But, if you want to just see for yourself if you can do it, join the #bookaday challenge hosted by The Borough Press for the month of June.
Join us on Twitter by using the hashtag #bookaday and follow @BoroughPress for more information and find others who are joining the fun!

*Disclaimer: Both of the book-a-day challenges do have different "rules and instructions" but it would be lovely to check and support both of them!

This meme/challenge was a spur out of the moment on Day #3 when I was going through my feed and the theme during that day were books with blue covers. So me being the amateur I am, took most of my blue covered books out of my bookshelves and posted a picture of them. Haha, pretty dumb I know. But, today, Day #4, I just snapped a picture of one book, just one! Check out my first tweets @enzieequimson

Top 5 Wednesdays #1 | Top 5 Characters You Wish You Were More Like

I recently joined the Top 5 Wednesdays Group on Goodreads and I am so excited!
Top 5 Wednesdays is created by Gingerreadslainey and click here for complete list of participants for this meme. Go check 'em out!

With that said, let's get on with the Top 5!

5. Harry Potter from the The Harry Potter Series by J.K. Rowling

This is a no-brainer for me, and probably to the most of you, because it's Harry Potter. Throughout the series, he's been thrown around all over the place with rocks pelting at him in each step, and that's putting it nicely. He faced grievances and death itself so many times, but still managed to keep going on. And on top of that, the sacrifices he had to make for the sake of others. Let's just say I salute him for his constancy and courage.

4. Percy Jackson from The Percy Jackson & The Olympians Series by Rick Riordan

For Percy, it same as Harry Potter. I know, I know, why am I still putting him then? Because it's Percy Jackson, guys! Reading from his point of view was so refreshing and hilarious, but those are not the reasons why I wish I was more like him. I've always been a firm believer of taking all things in serious will lead to a successful future. His lack of encouragement of the rules set upon him, which lead to great triumphs, not just for himself but for also the camp and the whole "West," made me realise that the phrase "live a little" could be good for everyone. Another thing is that even though his father might've somewhat neglected him in times, *cough* most of the times, Percy's respect for Poseidon remained unwavering and still looked up to him for help, even though in most times he received no answer.

3. Annabeth Chase from The Percy Jackson & The Olympians Series by Rick Riordan

The trait that Annabeth had that impressed me the most was her ability to stay calm in all the situations she had to go through, which were all life-threatening if I might say so myself. She's very resourceful, witty, and would go through everything she has to do to save all her loved ones.

2. Isabelle Lightwood from The Mortal Instruments Series by Cassandra Clare

I love Isabelle Lightwood, because she kicks butt while doing it gracefully. She's very athletic and loyal to her family.

1. Hermione Granger from The Harry Potter Series by J.K. Rowling

She is my most favourite female character, not because she got Ron Weasley or she's extremely smart, but that adds too, but because of her loyalty and having straight priorities. She stayed with who she thinks will need her help the most and not let her emotions come into play when it comes to decision-making, and that's very important in life. Emotions are just things present in that current situation but decisions can come back to haunt you in life.

#AYearAThon | Day 2

And, Day #2 is done!

Currently Reading: The Last Olympian

Books Read:
- The Lightning Thief
- The Sea of Monsters
- The Titan's Curse
- The Battle of the Labyrinth

Pages read since last update: 288 + 320 + 368 + 30 = 1,006

Total Pages Read: 1,381

Whew, I was on a roll! Day #2 was pretty successful for me, but I did finish The Sea of Monsters then started The Titan's Curse after I updated for my Day #1, shhhhh. But, the day was still good, I finished the Titan's Curse and the Battle of the Labyrinth. And, was also able to get some reading for the #SummerofSpells that I'm also participating in. If you want to see more about that, click here. I will do a weekly update for that read-a-long since it does go through June to August. AND, I was able to get some studying done for my summer assignment for school. Summer assignments are just. No. But, overall this was a good Day #2. So, hope to see y'all tomorrow for Day #3!

#AYearAThon | Day #1

And, Day #1 is done!

Currently Reading: The Sea of Monsters

-The Lightning Thief

Total Pages Read: 375

Good start to the #AYearAThon and to my first official week of summer! I read The Lightning Thief while cleaning up my room, straightening it up 'cause I will be most likely be holed up in there during the whole summer. I will be reading more before I sleep but I'll count that for tomorrow's update. See y'all!

Summer of Spells | TBR

I will be participating on the Summer of Spells: Harry Potter Read-a-Long. So excited, because I love me some Harry Potter-relaxation after a stressful school year. Click here to see the Goodread page for more info on the #SummerofSpells read-a-long.
Here's my TBR for the read-a-long:

- Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire

I most probably won't be starting this read-a-long until the #AYearAThon ends on June 8, but I will try to get some Harry Potter reading in between during the #AYearAThon. I will be doing weekly updates through out the read-a-long, so stay tuned!

June TBR

Hi, guys! This is my TBR pile for June and my first ever TBR post. This month is more of me rereading series that are already completed but I haven't gotten around into finishing them.
*not including my TBRs for the #AYearAThon and the #SummerofSpells Read-a-thons
-  Twilight by Stephenie Meyer (Reread)
I've already read the whole Twilight Saga, but it's always been tradition for me to reread them every summer ever since 2010.
- The Alchemyst by Michael Scott (Reread)
I already read 1 or 2 out of the 6 books in the The Secrets of the Immortal Nicholas Flamel Series 2 years ago, and now I'm starting it again to lower down my TBR pile.
- Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead
I feel like I need to get a move on from my stereotypical mindset about vampires from The Twilight Saga and what better than to start with the awesome, or so everyone's saying, The Vampire Academy series.
- Bruiser by Neil Shusterman
It's always refreshing to read from a male's POV, and this is the story, or its synopsis to be specific, that was the most prominent in my TBR pile.
- The Fault In Our Stars by John Green (Reread)
I want to reread this beautiful, beautiful contemporary before the movie comes out, and of course I am going to watch it.

The #AYearAThon's theme for this month is Rick Riordan and starts on June 2 through June 8.
The #SummerofSpells will be a two-month long Harry Potter Read-a-Long starting in June.
