Friday Memes | The Friday 56 and Book Beginnings #3

The Friday 56 is hosted over at Freda's Voice! While the Book Beginning is hosted over at Rose City Reader. So, go check both of them out if you need more information.
The rules of The Friday 56 are very simple:
- Grab a book, any book.
- Turn to page 56 or 56% if you are reading from an e-reader.
- Find any sentence or sentences that grab you then post them.
- Make sure to add your post url to the page which is at Freda's Voice, so all of the participants can see!
Book Beginnings:
Share the first sentence, or so, of the book you are currently reading. Share your thoughts and don't forget to also add your post url at Rose City Reader's page!

The Magician by Michael Scott

This is the second book in the The Secrets of the Immortal Nicholas Flamel

Book Beginnings:

"I am dying. Perenelle, too, is dying. The spell that has kept us alive these six hundred years us fading, and now we age a year for everyday that passes. I need the Codex, the Book of Abraham the Mage, to re-create the immortality spell; without it, we have less than a month to live."

The Friday 56:

"It was as old as this planet. And yet you destroyed it without a second thought. Why did you do that?" (page 256)

I am actually enjoying this series despite the mixed reviews it is receiving. From what I could gather from the reviews I've read on Goodreads, it's either you'll like it or hate it. I am currently participating in the Trees of Reverie June Read-a-thon. If you want to find out more about the read-a-thon, click here.
Comment below what you think and I hope y'all have a good weekend!
See y'all next Friday!

  1. If he destroyed something as old as the planet, I'd feel upset too. The aging thing is something too.

    1. I am actually hating on the character that destroyed it. Completely shocked when it happened, but I guess he took "desperate times call for desperate measures" to a whole another level. Thanks for stopping by :)

    1. Many people don't like it because they first heard about Nicholas Flamel from Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone so they had high expectations. You definitely should check it out, especially if you're into fantasy takes on historical facts. Thanks for stopping by :)
